Virginia Grace Lindsay, nee Slim (1934 – 2016)
Virginia Slim was born at the Old Village of upper Lake Laberge to parents Agnes and Frank Slim. Her family lived a traditional life and she spent her youth working a trap line with her sled dogs. She moved to Whitehorse at age sixteen to attend residential school. She worked at the Yukon Laundry and Hougen's Department Store, the Whitehorse General Hospital, and Macauley Lodge. Lindsay was the longest standing Avon representative in western Canada. Virginia and Richard “Joe” Lindsay were married in 1960 and they raised five children: Donna, Campbell, Joanne, Mark, and Maxine. They enjoyed many years at Quiet Lake, camping and prospecting.1)
