Archibald Neil McKinnon “Archie” Martin

Archie Martin was born in Aylmer, Quebec.1) He played on the Dawson Stanley Cup hockey team in 1904 when he was working for the Canadian Klondike Mining Company near Dawson.2) Martin was elected as a Conservative to the Yukon Council for the Klondike in 1912 and 1915. He was the Speaker in 1915-16. Martin moved to Mayo in 1916 and announced he would not seek re-election.3)

Martin and partner Robert “Bobbie” Fisher dug prospect holes for silver at the head of Porcupine Creek on the Coral and Wigwam claims. Martin had claims with many partners in the Davidson Mountains. He and partner, Agnes Kinsey (Bobbie Fisher’s sister), had claims on Keno Hill. He and Fisher had some tungsten claims near the Potato Hills in the early 1930s.4)
