David “Little Dave” Moses (d. 2011)

Little Dave Moses was the son of Ella and Moses Lucas and the grandson of Chief Alfred Moses. He was a chief of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun at the Mayo Old Village. He met Mary Martin, daughter of Rev. John Martin, after her family moved to the Old Village around 1934. Mary taught school at the church there until she and Little were married with children. Mary had eleven children and their son Albert became a traditional chief of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun at Old Village.1)

Little Dave played the accordion with any other musicians who came down to the Mayo Old Village at Christmas in the 1930s.2) Yukon Archives holds recordings of traditional music performed by David Moses and others.3)
