Frederick “Fritz” Miller
Fritz Miller moved to America from Germany in 1891 and joined his brother, George F. Miller, in Juneau. He completed his education there and took up mining. Fritz explored the Yukon and Alaska from 1894 to 1897 and in 1898 made his way to Atlin Lake. His brother had wandered there earlier following a tale from a dying prospector with a story of a lost gold mine. Fritz left by dog team in January 1898 with his partner F. McLaren. They found gold on Pine Creek and returned later to Juneau to stake claims.1)
