Patrick Michael (b. 1952)
Patrick Michael was born in Saskatchewan and received a degree in history and political science from the University of Alberta. He was a table officer for the Yukon Legislature in 1977 and was appointed clerk in 1978, and chief electoral officer in 1983. As clerk, he was a nonpartisan expert providing advice on parliamentary procedure to elected representatives. Michael guided the territory though the implementation of party politics and the devolution of federal powers. Patrick Michael retired in 2007 after a twenty-eight -year career as clerk of the Yukon legislative assembly. The appointments of deputy clerk Floyd McCormick and assistant chief electoral officer Jo-Ann Waugh filled his two positions.1)
