Sidney W. May (1907 - 1974)
Sidney May joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in November 1928.1) He was a member of the RCMP patrol that captured “Mad Trapper” Johnson in 1932.2) He wrote a patrol report as a member of the pursuing posse called “Old Crow YT to Le Pierre House YT and return March 11, 1932.”3)
May was dismissed from the police in June 1933 for marrying without permission.4) He worked for Yukon Consolidated Gold Corp for 32 years starting in 1934.5) In 1966, he moved to Kamloops where he worked for Lornex Mines, again as a mechanic.6)
