Saletto Michunovich (1890 – 1918)
Saletto Michunovich was born in Danilovgrad, Montenegro.1) He was a miner living in Dawson in July 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First Word War.2) He joined the Yukon Infantry Company in Sidney, British Columbia and arrived in England in February 1917. He transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Company in March. He landed in France in March 1918 and was posted to the Canadian Machine Gun Reinforcement Pool until he joined the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade. He fought in France and Belgium. He was the gunner in an armoured car during an attack north of Villers-les-Cagnicourt, France and was killed when the vehicle was hit by a shell. He is buried in the Vis-En-Artois British Cemetery in Haucourt, Pas de Calais, France.3)
