Winifield Scott Martin

Winifield Martin came to Dawson in 1898 and was a teamster for J. A. Rouse, freighters. He was killed on the job. Coroner Stames found that he was caught in lines and fell off the wagon which ran over the small of his back. He died at the mouth of Homestake Gulch, opposite No. 27 Above Discovery on Bonanza Creek. J. W. Rouse paid the funeral costs in gold dust.1)
