Arlin McFarlane

Arlin McFarlane has a BA in English from McGill University and an MFA in theatre from the University of Victoria.1) She is a Yukon artist using film, theatre, dance and music to tell stories. She was a co-founder of Separate Reality Theatre, was involved with Nakai Theatre, and was a founding creator of the Rinkbinders.2) She was the Artistic Director of the Yukon Educational Theatre from 1992 to 2011. In this role she conducted workshops, taught acting and improvisation, storytelling and shadow puppetry. The theatre runs three annual events including Burning Away the Winter Blues.3)

In 1990, Arlin was instructing first and second-year students at Yukon College in the winter and at the University of British Columbia in the summer.4) From 1985 to 2011, she taught Introduction to Acting and Scene Study; Voice with secondary teaching in Communicating in Relationships, Personal Growth and Development, Business Communications and English Composition and Literature at Yukon College.5)

Arlin McFarlane Film and Media has produced films screened in festivals in Toronto, New Zealand and New York City.6) She has made a dozen films with all but the community documentaries being under ten minutes long. Arlin won a MITY award for her film Tending Toward Silence and other awards for My Friend Anne and Walks Like a ….7)
