Harold Buchan McGiverin

Harold Buchan McGiverin was a son of Lieutenant-Colonel William McGivern, M.P. McGiverin was called to the bar in 1893. He was a senior partner in the law firm of McGiverin, Haydon and Grieg. McGiverin was an influential Liberal and council to a number of companies, including the Grand Trunk Railway. He used his power to gain mining concessions in the Klondike for A.N.C. Tradgold and J.W. Boyle and he represented the Klondike Mines Railway and served on the executive. He also represented the Dawson Whitehorse Navigation Company. He was a Member of Parliament for Ottawa East from 1908 to 1911 and from 1921 to 1925. He was minister without portfolio in 1924/25 in the Mackenzie King cabinet.1)
