L. J. McCarty
L. J. McCarty owned a roadhouse at the junction of McCormack’s Forks and the trail to Claim “96 Above on Bonanza Creek. After the Ridge Road was constructed in 1899, McCarty moved his roadhouse to Claim #96 Above on Bonanza creek. McCarty & Co. shortened and improved the O’Brien tramway trail from Grand Forks to his roadhouse. In 1899, the company then constructed a trail from the roadhouse to the Ridge Road. This road was more convenient and enduring than the old McCormack Road and is now called the Upper Bonanza Road. In early 1900, McCarty moved again to locate a roadhouse at the junction of his new road and the Ridge Road.1)
