Laughlin T. “Lockie” McNeil (1866 – 1918)

Lockie McNeil was born in Nova Scotia. His uncle was the Archdeacon of Toronto. As a young man he worked as a hoisting engineer and a whaler. In Dawson he worked in saloons and hotels and ending up part-owner of a number of them. He was having a hard time making a living in 1918 and wrote to his brother that he was coming out of the Yukon to stay. McNeil drowned when the Princess Sophia sank in the Lynn Canal.1)
