George Otoyemon Nagano (d. 1951)

George Nagano was born in Japan. He operated the GN Café in Mayo from 1926 through 1950 and was well-known for his banquets. His wife, Chiyo Ruth, was born in Japan in 1906. She came to Canada in 1914 and Mayo in 1930. Chiyo died of pneumonia in 1936, leaving three young children. Her sister, Mary (Yoshida) Burian, helped to raise the children. George Nagano is buried in the Mayo Cemetery near his wife.1)
