Joseph Navarro (d. 1896)
Joseph Navarro was originally from Chile and came to the Yukon in 1888.1) He was in Forty Mile in December 1894 to sign the charter of the Yukon Order of Pioneers.2) Navarro took sick at Forty Mile in November 1895 and could not buy wood or pay the doctor’s bills which were $52 to $64 every two weeks. He spent some time at the North-West Mounted Police hospital at Fort Constantine.3) The Yukon Order of Pioneers, formed to help people in his situation, took care of him and, when it was time, buried him in the Forty Mile Cemetery.4)
