Joseph Navarro (d. 1896)

Joseph Navarro was originally from Chile and came to the Yukon in 1888.¹⁾ He was in Forty Mile in December 1894 to sign the charter of the Yukon Order of Pioneers.²⁾ Navarro took sick at Forty Mile in November 1895 and could not buy wood or pay the doctor’s bills which were $52 to $64 every two weeks. He spent some time at the North-West Mounted Police hospital at Fort Constantine.³⁾ The Yukon Order of Pioneers, formed to help people in his situation, took care of him and, when it was time, buried him in the Forty Mile Cemetery.⁴⁾
