Albert D. “Mike” Pinska (1877 – 1918)
Albert Pinska was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He went to Dawson in 1906 to manage a store owned by his brother Martin. He married Olive Greer, daughter of a pioneer steamer captain [Joel P. Greer]. Olive was a member of the Dawson Women's Ambulance Corps and secretary of the Klondike Knitting Klub. They had a summer cottage at Sunnydale. Albert was a duck hunter and bowler and they both were curlers.1) Albert had won medals in championships contests in the United States. Mike was travelling with his wife to Seattle where he was to serve in the US Army or work in the shipyards.2) The brothers Albert and Martin turned over their boat and cottage to the Dawson Returned Soldiers Club before Albert left town. Albert and Olive died on the Princess Sophia when it sank that fall in the Lynn Canal.3)
