David Pritchard (1935 – 2024)

David Pritchard was born in Vernon, British Columbia. He obtained a BA in education in 1963 and started his Master of Divinity degree in 1981. He spent twenty-five years in Canada as a teacher and finally as a Yukon deputy minister of Education. In 1987, Reverend Canon David Pritchard went to Eswatini in Africa. In 1990, he was the executive director of COSAD (Council of Smoking Alcohol and Drugs) and helped addicts pursue treatment in South Africa. His wife Cyndie passed in 2001 and David returned to Whitehorse in 2002 to raise his four Swazi children. He founded the Swaziland Education Trust Society and thousands of dollars were raised in the Yukon to pay school fees for more than thirty-five Swazi children. David Pritchard is buried in Manzini, Eswatini.1)
