Francois Pregent (1873-1917)
Francois Pregent was born in Chateauguay, Quebec and became a miner in the Dawson area.1) He was recruited by Captain George Black during the First World War and was in England in August 1917.2) He was killed in action at Passchendaele Ridge on October 30, 1917.3) Private Pregent was awarded the British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal.4) His name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres, Belgium.5)
