Gurdeep Pandher
Gurdeep Pandher was born into a Sikh farmng family in Siahar, Punjab. He moved to Canada in 2006 and became a Canadian citizen in 2011. He has lived in many provinces but found a home in Whitehorse, Yukon. Gurdeep received a Doctor of Laws from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2018.1)
Gurdeep Pandher teaches Bhangra dancing classes and his popular videos are set in the Yukon. One video that featured Gurdeep teaching former Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis went viral, and it is not the only that achieved a large number of viewings. Gurdeep received the 2022 Communications and Leadership award from District 96 of Toastmasters International for his skill as a poet, dancer, blogger, videographer, and natural communicator who uses his humble nature to educate the world about others.2) He uses dance to motivate people to get up and move while experiencing the natural world around them. In 2025, he will receive the Meritorious Service Decoration (Civil Division) from the Governor General of Canada for using social media for positive purposes.3)
