Martin A. Pinska
Martin Pinska came from St. Paul, Minnesota to Dawson in September 1898. He brought a large stock of furs and displayed them in a store on the waterfront across from the old Pioneer Hotel. He formed a partnership with Charles S. Sargent in February 1899. After the Sargent and Pinska store suffered a fire, it was located for some time on Second Avenue. In the summer of 1899, it moved to a better location at the corner of Second Street and First Avenue. The partners carried the largest and finest selection of shoes in the territory as well as a line of clothing, furnishings, hats, and furs.1)
