Percy R. Peele (d. 1938)
Percy Peele started with the Yukon Canadian Customs Service in 1898.1) Peele was the Canadian Customs Officer at Whitehorse while navigation was open in the summer, and at New Westminster, British Columbia in the winter.2)
Skookum Jim put $20,000 into a trust fund for his family called the Daisy Mason Trust Fund. Jim and Bishop Isaac Stringer persuaded Peele to accept responsibility for administering the fund. He handled it for about twenty years, and it paid for Daisy's education, family living expenses, and hospital and funeral bills. After Percy's death, Mrs. Peele and their daughter Vivian turned over, in securities and cash, $34,000 to the Bishop of the Yukon and the Royal Trust Company.3)
Peele retired in 1937 and died suddenly in Hollywood where he and his wife had gone to spend the winter.4)
