Walter W. Powers (1864 - 1930)

Walter Powers was born in Lake City, Minnesota. A Seattle pioneer, he was involved in real estate when news of the Klondike strike hit the city. He reached Dawson in May 1898. He made one trip outside in 1903 but his boat, the Islander, sank with $28,000 of his gold. He returned to establish a business in Fairbanks and remained there for two years after which he moved to Seattle. He organised the Luna Park Co. that controlled the Luna Park amusement resort in West Seattle. He also controlled real estate.1)
