Roy Anthony Reber (1923 – 2022)

Roy Reber was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to parents Catherine and Gordon Reber. He married Beverly Roberts in 1944 and his and wife and daughter moved to the Yukon in 1949. Roy was active in playing, coaching, and promoting many sports.1) He coached the women’s hockey team at the Canada Games in 1967 in Quebec City and in 1971 in Saskatoon. He attended the first Arctic Winter Games as a basketball player and in 1972 he was general manager of the Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse. He was appointed to the steering committee in 1974 and remained a member of the Board until 1978.2) He served on the National Advisory Council for Fitness and Amateur Sports. In 1983, Roy Reber was inducted into the Sport Yukon Hall of Fame. He retired to Qualicum Beach in 1986.3)
