Amy Soloway

Amy Soloway came to Dawson for the first time in 2009 in response to call from Konrad Pluta, the then musical director at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s gambling hall. The role of Gertie had been recently vacated, and Amy took on the position. She had just returned home to Nova Scotia after performing in Toronto and the United States. Amy played Gertie for three shows a night, five nights a week, over the course of 14 years until June 2023 when she resigned over a difference of values between herself and the production team. On her last night, 70 people paraded down Dawson’s dirt roads to her house and joined in singing “Simply the Best.”1)

In December 2025, The Klondike Visitors Association announced that Fireweed Entertainment, led by Amy Soloway and Courtney Deelen, had been awarded a three-year contract to take over the nightly show at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s. The change came after the conclusion of KareVan Productions’ three-year stewardship of the stage performances. Soloway’s partner, Courtney Deelen, had experience on the Dawson stage as a Gold Rush Girl. KVA’s managing director, Ricky Mawunganidze, said that Fireweed was chosen for its creative vision, depth of experience and strong local representation.2)
