David Sandysk (d.~1903)
Chief David Sandysk and his wife Eliza were living in the vicinity of Eagle, Alaska in 1890/91. That year, Archdeacon Robert McDonald baptized their son and John McGrath led a survey party in the area and took a photo of David's band. The Han village at Eagle was identified at Johnny's Village by Frederick Schwatka but that was probably as mistake as there is no other record of a headman named Johnny in this area.1)
There was a large potlach at Forty Mile in 1903 to celebrate David's son Peter becoming chief of the camp. He became hereditary chief after David Sandysk's death. People from Moosehide, Peel River, Mackenzie River, Tanana, and Charley Creek attended the potlatch.2)
