Doug Sias (1952 – 2019)
Doug Sias was born in Whitehorse to parents Josie and Frank Sias. Doug started his education through home-schooling at the Alaska Highway gas pumping station at Mile 1124 on the Alaska Highway. In 1961, he attended the new elementary school at the pumping station at Mile 48 on the Haines Road. That station closed in 1972 and Doug attended high school in Whitehorse. He was working with highways when he met his wife Cecile and they moved to Silver City in 1975. His mother and father had moved there in 1972. Doug worked with highways out of Destruction Bay and helped his parents with a Youth Corps camp and B&B at the lake. Doug and Cecile sold their place at Silver City in 2016.1)
