Diane Strand

Diane Strand is a citizen of the Champagne & Aishihik First Nations. Her grandmother, Annie Ned, taught her family to sing and dance and Strand was an eager pupil. Diane and her sisters started the Dakwakada Dancers in 1988/89. Her family provided her with strength and pride that allowed her to take on leadership roles.1)

Diane studied Integrative Energy Healing at Langara College.2) She has served as a chief of her First Nation and as director of the Department of Language, Culture & Heritage. In 2018, Diane was named to the Senate Appointment Board that recommends people for appointments to the Canadian Senate.3)
