Edward Russell Smith (1964 – 2024)

Eddie Smith was born in Prince George, British Columbia to parents Evelyn Kathleen Smith Green and Edward Joe. Son Eddie was Wolf Clan and was close to the maternal side of his family and the large Äshèyi Smith family. His maternal grandparents were Elsie and Alex Smith and had a large hand in raising him along with his mother’s siblings. Eddie spent his childhood in Haines Junction and he attended the new school there. His uncle Skookum taught him bush skills and how to live on the land.1)

Eddie Smith was a talented woodworker and artist. He created the Champagne and Aishihik Crow and Wolf logo still used today. He was a member of the CAFN work crews for many years and lived at Canyon Creek where he carved, painted, and socialized with friends.2)
