Fred Stick Jr. (b. 1983)

Fred Stick Jr. was born in Whitehorse to parents Fred Stick and Susie Stone. He is a member of the Wolf clan. Stick Jr. learned to made drums when he was four years old with Sam Williams. He was inspired to create his own art by watching his father and cousin, Belinda Stick. Fred Jr. was selected to participate in the Sundog Carving program. He spent six years learning to carve, paint and design on wood from master carvers and worked with fellow carvers to creating large pieces. He helped to design and carve the totem pole at the end of Main Street in Whitehorse and was one of nineteen carvers who created a dugout canoe in 2009. He had worked at the Da Ku Cultural Centre sharing his knowledge with citizens and visitors and creates most of his work in his home studio.1)
