Harry Sergeant (1878 – 1917)
Harry Sergeant was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. He joined the North West Mounted Police in June 1898 and was posted to Dawson in August 1901. In September 1904, he was promoted to sergeant and moved to Regina in June 1905. Sergeant took his release from the Police in 1915 and enlisted to serve in the First World War in January 1917. He was killed during an attack northwest of Fouquescourt in France.1)
Harry Sergeant’s name is engraved into the stone base of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. The memorial honours those Canadian soldiers who have no known grave.2)
