John Sayyea

In 1874, John Sayyea and three companions came from Dease Lake up the Liard River and mined Sayyea Creek during the winter of 1874/75. Their find started a rush from the Cassiar goldfields in the spring of 1875 and gold was found on several creeks nearby. The very dangerous route discouraged miners.1)
