Lucy Steele-Masson
Lucy Steele was born in Bristol, England and moved to the Yukon with her family at age six. She started skiing at age twelve and represented the Yukon at the 1982 Arctic Winter Games. She continued to compete at the high-performance level for fifteen years. By 1994, she had been awarded the Yukon Female Athlete of the Year Award seven times, and the Government of Yukon Award of Excellence ten times. She brought home eleven medals from the National Championships 1984 – 1996. She won a silver medal in 1987, and three golds and a silver at the 1991 Canada Winter Games. She competed for Canada at the 1992 Albertville Olympics. Lucy has been a role model for Yukon youth. Lucy Steele-Masson was inducted into the Sport Yukon Hall of Fame in 2000.1)
