Simon Peter “Pete” Sanquist

Pete Sanquist was born in Stockholm, Sweden and served in the Swedish Navy. He spent years on Dominion Creek where he and two brothers mined and ran a general store and post office. He moved to Dawson around 1912 and his brothers left for their homes in California. Sanquist came to Mayo after the silver camp opened in 1920 and remained there until his death in 1936. He worked for Treadwell Yukon at the Silver King.1)
