William Alexander Steel (1866 - 1934)
William Steel was employed by several newspapers in the Seattle area and the editor of the Morning Telegraph. He was the co-founder of the Dawson Daily News in 1899. He edited the Nome Daily News from 1900 to 1906 and went on to become the city editor for the Seattle Times. He returned to Alaska to work on other papers.
Steel mined and became a private secretary to Judge Wickersham.1)
