John Sanford Taylor (1893 – 1916)
John Taylor was born in Bothwell, Ontario, the eldest son of Justice George L. Taylor and Annie C. E. Taylor. The family moved to the Yukon where John attended the Whitehorse Public School. He received a degree in mining engineering at the University of Toronto in 1914. In 1915, he joined the Borden Battery, Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade in Montreal. Private Taylor was killed in action during the Battle of Thiepval Ridge and his body was never recovered.1)
