C.R. Heber Wilkinson (1900 – 1979)
Heber Wilkinson was a student in the 1920s. In 1923, he was in charge of the mission at Teslin.1) He also taught the day school and was there from June 17 to August. In 1924, he was back in Teslin and taught the day school from June 22 to July 27. In 1925, he was again at Teslin and taught the church day school from June 24 to September 6.2)
Wilkinson’s education included a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Divinity. He married Rowena V. Stringer (1896 – 1982), daughter of Mrs. I.O. Stringer. Heber and Rowena were missionaries in India, and Reverend Wilkinson was the first Bishop of Amritsar East Punjab, India from Dec. 1950 to 1959. He was the Assistant Bishop of Niagara from 1960 to 1970.3) Reverend Wilkinson returned to the Yukon in 1961 to preside at the 14th Diocese of Yukon Synod in 1961.4)
