Frank Zimmer
Frank Zimmer built a cabin on the Yukon River in Carmacks in the 1920s. He worked as a trapper and had a mink ranch.1) In 1936, Zimmer saw un upturned canoe pass his cabin and he took his boat out to rescue A.R. Hayes who was clinging to the side of the boat. Hayes was unconscious when they reached shore but Zimmer was able to revive him. RCMP Constable J.P. Hartnett drowned in the accident. He had been paddling in the back while Hayes, who could not swim, was in the bow with no paddle.2)
